Boeske Family Summer Kitchen
The River Forest Country Club was organized on November 26, 1926 by a group of people from River Forest and Oak Park, Illinois. The group obtained a lease from the Boeske family of a 140 acre parcel of farmland which included a 22 acre natural grove of trees and the 140 year old Boeske Summer Kitchen which is said to be the oldest existing building today in Dupage County.

Construction of the golf course began in 1927 and officially opened in June 1928. The next year the clubhouse, designed by E.E. Roberts, was constructed. By the summer of 1928, there was a full membership of 350 members.

The 1930's brought financial troubles and the name of the Club was changed to River Forest Golf Club. The Club exercised its option to purchase the land under its lease agreement in 1949. Numerous improvements were made to the course and facilities through the 1960's and 1970's. The late 1980's and the 1990's brought significant improvements to the Club, including a $4 million renovation of the clubhouse, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a new halfway house and many course improvements. Along with the improvements came the renaming of the Club back to the original name, River Forest Country Club.
